Maritime Tactical Systems, Inc. (MARTAC) has announced a strategic manufacturing partnership with SŌLACE Boats, a fellow Florida-based boatbuilder. This collaboration is designed to substantially increase MARTAC's production capabilities for its Devil Ray Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) platforms.
The primary goal of this alliance is to enable MARTAC to scale its USV output by an additional 100 vessels per year. This expansion is a direct response to growing demand signals from clients within the United States.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, while this news doesn't directly impact immediate shipping rates or capacity, it signals an increase in specialized maritime equipment production. This could lead to future requirements for the transport of these USVs, potentially involving specialized handling or project cargo logistics, particularly for domestic and international defense-related shipments. Forwarders should note the potential for increased demand in high-value, sensitive cargo movements.
