German police conducted a significant inspection targeting commercial freight vehicles on the A7 motorway near Kassel. The operation uncovered a high incidence of non-compliance, with 32 out of 34 inspected vehicles found to have either violations or technical defects. This represents an infringement rate of nearly 95 percent.
As a direct consequence of these findings, 18 vehicles were deemed unsafe to proceed and were ordered to stop their journeys. They were only permitted to continue once the identified safety issues had been rectified.
For freight forwarders and logistics managers, such stringent roadside checks highlight the importance of thorough vehicle maintenance and compliance with German and EU road safety regulations. High rates of vehicle detention can lead to significant delays in transit times, increased operational costs for repairs, and potential penalties.
