Boskalis recently executed a specialized transport operation, moving 18 fish farming cage sections from a manufacturing site in China to their final destination in Norway. The cargo was carried on the heavy-lift vessel Mighty Servant 3. These cage sections are critical components for six advanced closed aquaculture installations being developed by Seafarming Systems. The new fish farms are anticipated to become operational before the close of 2026, contributing to Norway's aquaculture industry.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this type of specialized project cargo movement highlights the continued demand for heavy-lift and breakbulk services, particularly for large-scale industrial or agricultural infrastructure projects. Such shipments require meticulous planning, specialized vessel capabilities, and precise execution, often involving complex port logistics and coordination across continents. Forwarders handling similar projects should factor in the lead times for specialized vessel availability and the unique handling requirements for oversized cargo.
