PE Fuel Distributors, based in South Africa, has announced its new service offering: the supply of Marine AdBlue 40. This product is a specialized aqueous urea solution, comprising 40% urea and 60% deionised water, designed to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from ship exhausts. It functions as a reducing agent within Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems, converting harmful NOx into harmless nitrogen gas and water vapour.
The company recently completed a substantial delivery of 35,000 litres to a vessel located in Algoa Bay, demonstrating its operational capability in this new segment. This development provides maritime customers in the region with an additional option for sourcing essential emissions reduction consumables.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, the availability of Marine AdBlue 40 from a local supplier in South Africa can streamline bunkering operations and ensure compliance with environmental regulations for vessels calling at South African ports. This local supply could potentially reduce logistics costs and lead times associated with procuring such specialized marine consumables, contributing to more efficient vessel turnaround times and adherence to IMO emissions standards.
