EST-Floattech has been selected by Dutch system integrator Van Tiem Elektro to deliver its Octopus High Energy battery systems for a series of 15 new river cruise vessels. The installation work for these ships is taking place at De Gerlien van Tiem in Druten, Netherlands, and Vahali Shipyards in Ghent, Belgium.
This initiative reflects a broader industry trend towards electrifying inland waterway transport, aiming to reduce emissions and operational costs. The adoption of advanced battery technology is crucial for enabling hybrid or fully electric propulsion systems in these vessels.
