German conversion specialist Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) has completed the redelivery of the final Airbus A330-200 passenger-to-freighter (P2F) aircraft to EgyptAir Cargo. This marks the conclusion of a program that saw five A330-200s converted for the carrier. EgyptAir Cargo was the launch customer for the A330-200P2F program, having initially committed to the conversion in 2015 and receiving its first converted aircraft shortly thereafter.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, the completion of this program signifies a stable increase in dedicated air cargo capacity for EgyptAir Cargo. The addition of these five converted freighters enhances the airline's ability to transport larger volumes of goods, potentially offering more consistent uplift options on key routes, particularly those connecting to and from Egypt. This could lead to improved schedule reliability and greater flexibility for booking cargo, especially for shipments requiring main deck capacity.
