The bulker sale and purchase (S&P) market demonstrated overall stability across various segments during the past week. A notable trend was the modest firming in the values of older Panamax vessels, indicating a slight increase in demand or perceived value for this specific tonnage.
Key transactions included the sale of the Kamsarmax vessel *Aquavita Aim* (82,200 DWT, built 2019 by Oshima) by Olive Shipmanagement for $38.2 million, which was very close to its assessed market value of $37.9 million. Another Kamsarmax, the *Medi Positano* (81,800 DWT, built 2015 by Tsuneishi Zosen), was sold by D'Amico Dry Ltd for $31.6 million.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, stable vessel valuations typically suggest a predictable environment for chartering and asset acquisition, without major speculative shifts that could impact long-term freight rates. The slight uptick in older Panamax values might signal a marginal increase in demand for vessels capable of navigating specific routes or carrying particular cargo volumes, potentially leading to minor rate adjustments for these segments. However, the overall stability implies no immediate significant changes to capacity or pricing dynamics in the bulker market.
