Crowley, a prominent logistics and marine solutions provider, has announced the inauguration of a new weekly container service. This service will establish a direct link between Port Houston, Texas, and two significant Central American ports: Santo Tomás de Castilla in Guatemala and Puerto Cortés in Honduras. The introduction of this route is designed to bolster trade capabilities and streamline the movement of goods between the United States Gulf Coast and these crucial Central American economies.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this new service offers enhanced capacity and improved schedule reliability for shipments moving between the U.S. Gulf and Central America. The direct, weekly calls can reduce transit times and provide more predictable lead times, which is beneficial for supply chain planning. It also introduces an additional carrier option, potentially fostering competitive rates and offering flexibility in routing cargo to and from these regions.
