Shell, in collaboration with Amazon, has introduced new fast-charging infrastructure for electric trucks across Amazon's German transport operations. The first two charging hubs are now open in Hannover and Kirchheim, with a third location planned for Koblenz in the near future. These facilities are equipped with reservable, liquid-cooled charging points, capable of delivering up to 400 kW of power.
These charging stations are strategically situated along major logistics corridors, aiming to facilitate the transition to electric heavy-duty vehicles for Amazon's fleet. The initiative addresses the critical need for robust charging infrastructure to support the increasing adoption of electric trucks in commercial logistics.
For freight forwarders and logistics managers, the expansion of high-power charging networks in Germany signifies improved operational viability for electric road transport. The ability to reserve charging slots and access high-speed charging reduces downtime, enhances schedule reliability, and makes electric trucking a more practical option for long-haul and regional distribution.
