Sempra Infrastructure, a subsidiary of Sempra, has announced a long-term sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Petrobras. This 20-year deal commits Sempra Infrastructure to supply approximately 0.8 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the Brazilian state-owned energy company. The LNG will be sourced from Sempra Infrastructure's contracted liquefaction capacity at the Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 project.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this agreement signifies a stable, long-term demand for LNG shipping capacity. While the immediate impact on spot rates is unlikely, the sustained volume will contribute to the overall demand for LNG carriers.
