A consortium of six prominent Japanese companies, including major shipping lines NYK Line, "K" LINE, and MOL, along with Nihon Shipyard and Mitsubishi Shipbuilding, has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining Approval in Principle (AiP) for a standard low-pressure liquefied CO2 carrier. This approval, granted by ClassNK, validates the design's safety and feasibility, moving Japan closer to establishing a robust carbon capture and storage (CCS) value chain.
This development is particularly relevant for freight forwarders and shippers involved in industrial projects.
