Ben Becker Internationaal Transportbedrijf has integrated its inaugural fully electric truck into its fleet. The vehicle is a Scania 23P box truck, equipped with a closed body and a substantial 356 kWh battery capacity. This new electric truck is specifically designated for distribution operations within the Benelux countries.
For the family-owned transport company, the primary objective behind acquiring this Scania electric truck is to accumulate hands-on experience with electric vehicles in real-world distribution scenarios. This initiative reflects a growing trend within the logistics sector to explore and adopt sustainable transport solutions.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signals the continued, albeit gradual, shift towards electric road transport in regional distribution. While this single truck deployment does not immediately impact overall capacity or rates, it represents a step in the ongoing decarbonization of last-mile and regional logistics. Forwarders should monitor such pilot programs as they contribute to the long-term evolution of transport networks, potentially influencing future service offerings and regulatory compliance requirements in the Benelux.
