Dolphin Drilling, an Oslo-listed company specializing in harsh-environment drilling rigs, has announced a contract extension with Oil India Limited (OIL). This agreement will see one of Dolphin Drilling's semi-submersible rigs continue its offshore drilling operations for OIL off the coast of India until October 2026. The rig is designed for mid-water and deepwater assignments.
This extension signifies continued activity in the offshore exploration and production sector. For freight forwarders, this type of long-term project ensures stable demand for specialized logistics services, including the transport of heavy-lift equipment, spare parts, and supplies to support offshore operations. It generally means consistent, albeit niche, cargo flows to the region, impacting project cargo and breakbulk specialists.
