Transavia is significantly increasing the use of its quieter Airbus A321neo aircraft for night flights departing from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol this summer. With the recent addition of its eighteenth A321neo, the airline now performs 62% of its nighttime operations with this model. The latest aircraft was delivered on July 1st.
This strategic shift aims to mitigate noise disturbances for communities surrounding Schiphol, a persistent concern for the airport. The A321neo is known for its reduced noise footprint compared to older aircraft types, aligning with environmental initiatives.
For freight forwarders and supply chain professionals, this news has minimal direct impact on air cargo operations. Transavia is primarily a passenger airline, and while passenger flights do carry belly cargo, the focus of this announcement is on noise reduction for passenger services rather than cargo capacity or routing. Therefore, no significant changes to air cargo rates, capacity, or operational procedures are anticipated as a direct result of this development.
