Finnish marine propulsion company Steerprop has secured a follow-up order from Turkish shipyard group Med Marine. The agreement involves providing two Steerprop SP 175 T propulsors for the third tugboat in a newbuild series. This repeat business solidifies Steerprop's position as a consistent supplier for Med Marine's tugboat construction program.
This development indicates ongoing investment in new vessel construction within the maritime support sector. For freight forwarders, while not directly impacting cargo rates or capacity, the continuous renewal and expansion of tugboat fleets can contribute to more efficient port operations and vessel assistance, indirectly supporting overall supply chain fluidity. Reliable port services are crucial for maintaining vessel schedules and preventing delays, which can have ripple effects on cargo movements.
