The Sailors' Society, a global maritime welfare charity, has announced the continuation of its "Wellness at Sea" training program for a second year. This extension is made possible through renewed funding from its partner, the ITF Seafarers' Trust. The program is specifically designed to benefit maritime cadets, ratings, and trainees throughout Africa.
The "Wellness at Sea" initiative aims to address the critical need for improved health, wellbeing, and welfare among maritime workers. By providing specialized training, the program seeks to equip seafarers with the tools and knowledge necessary to maintain their mental and physical health while at sea.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, the mental and physical health of seafarers directly impacts vessel operations and schedule reliability. A healthier, more supported crew can contribute to fewer incidents, better operational efficiency, and reduced delays, indirectly supporting the reliability of global supply chains. Investment in seafarer welfare programs like this helps ensure a stable and competent workforce for the maritime industry.
