The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has successfully concluded the first comprehensive audit cycle of its Member State Audit Scheme (IMSAS). Since becoming mandatory in 2016, IMSAS has systematically audited 168 member states to evaluate their effectiveness in implementing and enforcing IMO instruments. This scheme is designed to help countries strengthen their oversight capabilities, thereby contributing to safer and more secure global shipping operations.
