Hillwood has broken ground on a substantial 334,800 square foot logistics facility at Rockford Logistics Park 20, strategically located near the Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD). This new development aims to provide versatile space for single or multiple tenants, supporting a range of activities including air cargo, general logistics, distribution, and light manufacturing or assembly operations.
The initiative is set to significantly increase the capacity available for companies that require direct access to Rockford's established air cargo infrastructure. For freight forwarders and logistics managers, this expansion means potentially increased warehousing and cross-docking options in a key Midwest air cargo hub. It could lead to more efficient handling of airfreight, particularly for e-commerce and time-sensitive shipments, by reducing transit times and improving connectivity for last-mile delivery. The added capacity may also help stabilize or even reduce local warehousing costs due to increased supply.
