The National Maritime Education School (ENEM) in Mahajanga, Madagascar, recently facilitated a crucial regional training program focused on maritime search and rescue (SAR). This event, backed by the Maritime Search and Rescue Council (MSARC), gathered 25 maritime professionals representing eight different countries. The primary objective was to strengthen regional cooperation, improve operational capabilities, and elevate professional standards across the Indian Ocean.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, enhanced SAR capabilities in the Indian Ocean region contribute to safer maritime transit. This can indirectly reduce risks associated with incidents at sea, potentially leading to fewer delays and lower insurance premiums in the long term, particularly for vessels transiting these waters.
