Emirates SkyCargo is set to introduce a new weekly Boeing 777F freighter service to Almaty, Kazakhstan, commencing on June 16, 2026. This new route from Dubai will be the airline's inaugural dedicated freighter operation into Central Asia. The service is expected to provide more than 100 tonnes of cargo capacity each week, catering to the transport of electronics, perishable goods, machinery, and consumer products.
This expansion aligns with Emirates SkyCargo's strategic objective to broaden its global network and enhance its freighter services. The introduction of a direct freighter link to Almaty signifies a growing focus on Central Asian markets, which are becoming increasingly important for trade and logistics.
For freight forwarders and logistics managers, this new service offers a direct and substantial air cargo option into Almaty, potentially improving transit times and reliability for shipments to and from Central Asia. The additional capacity could help stabilize air freight rates on this lane and provide more flexibility for planning shipments of time-sensitive or high-value goods. It also opens up new routing possibilities for cargo destined for or originating from the region, potentially reducing reliance on less direct or multimodal options.
The airline has indicated that this route supports its wider network expansion, suggesting further developments in its freighter operations may follow.
