Norwegian construction company Veidekke has signed a contract valued at approximately $10.7 million (NOK 103 million) with Vestland County Council. The agreement focuses on upgrading two ferry terminals located in western Norway: Hatvik and Venjaneset. This infrastructure improvement project is expected to enhance the operational capabilities and overall efficiency of these vital maritime transport hubs.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, while this specific project directly impacts local ferry services rather than international deep-sea shipping, it signifies ongoing investment in regional transport infrastructure. Improved ferry terminals can contribute to smoother domestic supply chains, potentially affecting the efficiency of first-mile/last-mile delivery for goods moving through these areas. Enhanced infrastructure generally leads to better schedule reliability and reduced transit times for local cargo movements.
