TFG Marine recently announced the installation of an ISO 22192-certified mass flow meter (MFM) system on the bunker tanker Storholmen. This development represents the third MFM installation for the company's US Gulf Coast fleet in less than two months, following previous upgrades on the Buffalo B414 and Buffalo B304. Additionally, the Kingston Trader, which TFG Marine utilizes for bunker deliveries in Jamaica through a partnership with Scott Petroleum, also received an MFM system recently.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, the increasing adoption of MFM systems by bunker suppliers like TFG Marine signifies improved transparency and accuracy in fuel deliveries. This reduces the risk of disputes over quantity, leading to more efficient vessel turnaround times and potentially lower operational costs due to precise fuel accounting. Enhanced accuracy in bunkering can also contribute to better voyage planning and fuel consumption management, which is crucial for maintaining schedule reliability and controlling expenses.
