Poland's state-owned rail freight company, PKP Cargo, has finalized the sale of 106 older locomotives that were no longer in active service. The transaction generated approximately €6 million. This divestment is a component of the operator's ongoing efforts to update its rolling stock and enhance operational efficiency.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, the sale of these older locomotives by PKP Cargo signals a move towards a more modern and potentially more reliable rail network in Poland. While the immediate impact on capacity or rates is likely minimal, a modernized fleet could lead to improved transit times and fewer disruptions in the long term, benefiting intermodal and rail freight services across Europe.
