Air Canada Cargo is expanding its dedicated freighter network with the introduction of new services to Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS), Monterrey (MTY), and Panama City (PTY). The twice-weekly service to Amsterdam is scheduled to commence on October 29, supplementing Air Canada's existing passenger flight operations to the Dutch capital. The new routes to Monterrey and Panama City are designed to significantly improve freighter connectivity, particularly for important manufacturing and distribution hubs in these regions.
For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this expansion means increased air cargo capacity and more direct routing options for shipments between Canada, Europe, and Latin America. The Amsterdam service offers additional belly and main deck capacity for European-bound cargo, potentially easing pressure on existing routes and offering more flexibility for time-sensitive goods. The new Latin American routes are particularly valuable for industries reliant on efficient supply chains, such as automotive, electronics, and perishables, providing enhanced access to key production and consumption markets. This could lead to improved transit times and potentially more competitive rates on these specific lanes.
