EuroAfrica, a Cyprus-registered liner operator, has adopted the Syroco Live system across its entire fleet of four multipurpose vessels. This decision follows a successful pilot program conducted on the M/V ESL Australia, which demonstrated notable fuel savings and improved operational efficiencies.
Developed by Marseille-based Syroco, the Syroco Live system integrates a digital twin of each vessel with real-time operational data, alongside comprehensive weather and ocean forecasts. This combination allows the system to provide optimized recommendations for vessel routes and engine power settings, aiming to minimize fuel consumption and enhance overall voyage performance.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this deployment signifies a move towards more predictable and potentially more cost-effective shipping. Enhanced fuel efficiency can lead to reduced operational costs for the carrier, which might translate into more stable or competitive freight rates. Improved route optimization could also contribute to better schedule reliability, a critical factor for supply chain planning and inventory management. The use of advanced digital tools for vessel performance management indicates a commitment to modernizing fleet operations, which can indirectly benefit shippers through more efficient service.
EuroAfrica's Shipping Director, Alicja Jasinska, emphasized the company's dedication to modernizing its fleet operations, highlighting fuel efficiency as a primary driver for this initiative.
