Contecon Manzanillo S.A. de C.V. (CMSA), the Mexican division of International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), has taken delivery of two new Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes. This acquisition is a key component of the terminal's ongoing fourth phase of expansion, bringing its total fleet of quay cranes to 14. The additional equipment is expected to significantly boost the port's capacity and efficiency in handling container vessels.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this expansion at Manzanillo is a positive development. Increased crane availability and improved terminal efficiency can lead to faster vessel turnaround times, reduced port congestion, and potentially more reliable schedules for shipments moving through this crucial Mexican gateway. This enhancement could mitigate delays and improve overall supply chain predictability for cargo routed via Manzanillo.
