Reach Subsea has confirmed the extension of its charter agreement for the Deep Cygnus subsea vessel, exercising a one-year option with Havila Subsea & Renewables. This decision ensures the vessel will remain part of Reach Subsea's operational fleet until March 2028.
The initial charter agreement, which was first announced in July 2022, covered a four-year period and included a provision for an optional one-year extension. By activating this option, Reach Subsea maintains continuity in its subsea project capabilities.
For freight forwarders and supply chain professionals, this news signifies ongoing stability in the availability of specialized subsea support vessels. While not directly impacting container or general cargo rates, it indicates sustained activity in the offshore and subsea construction sectors, which often require complex project cargo logistics for equipment and components. Forwarders involved in energy or offshore wind projects may find this relevant for long-term planning of heavy-lift and oversized cargo movements to support such operations.
The extension suggests a positive outlook for subsea operations, ensuring that the Deep Cygnus can continue to support various underwater inspection, maintenance, and construction tasks for an additional year.
