French manufacturer Alstom has completed the delivery of 18 Traxx Universal locomotives to CLIP Intermodal, a prominent Polish rail freight operator. These new locomotives are designed to bolster CLIP Intermodal's capacity for transporting goods across its network. A portion of the manufacturing process for these units took place in Poland, and they feature the Onvia Cab system, indicating advanced operational technology.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signifies a potential increase in rail capacity and efficiency within Poland and potentially for cross-border European rail routes. Enhanced locomotive fleets can contribute to more reliable transit times and potentially greater slot availability for intermodal shipments, especially for cargo moving through Central Europe. This investment by CLIP Intermodal suggests a commitment to expanding its rail services, which could offer forwarders more robust options for their clients' supply chains, potentially reducing reliance on road transport for certain segments.
