CargoBeamer, a specialist in rail transport for semi-trailers, has signed its most substantial traction contract to date with SBB Cargo International. This agreement focuses on the Kaldenkirchen–Domodossola route, a key corridor for north-south European freight.
This partnership is expected to boost the capacity for moving semi-trailers via rail, offering a more sustainable and efficient alternative to road transport. For freight forwarders and logistics managers, this development signals increased reliability and capacity on a vital European intermodal route. It could lead to more stable transit times and potentially alleviate some pressure on road networks, especially for cross-border shipments between Northern Europe and Italy. The expansion of such services supports the shift towards greener logistics solutions.
The collaboration underscores a growing trend in the European logistics sector towards strengthening intermodal connections to meet demand while addressing environmental goals. The enhanced capacity on this route will provide forwarders with more options for their clients' cargo, particularly for goods typically moved by road.
