Environmental and human rights non-profit organizations have provided their perspectives on the outcomes of the recent Intersessional Working Group on Reduction of GHG Emissions from Ships (ISWG-GHG 22). The meeting, which saw approximately 1,200 delegates participate, addressed various proposals related to the IMO Net-Zero Framework (NZF).
The chairperson of the meeting, Sveinung Oftedal, reportedly observed a genuine willingness among participants to achieve concrete progress in addressing concerns and advancing the NZF. These discussions built upon submissions from previous Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) meetings and earlier ISWG-GHG sessions.
