EGYPTAIR, in partnership with Changi Airport Group and Sydney Airport, is set to introduce a new air service connecting Cairo, Singapore, and Sydney. This route, anticipated to commence in early 2027, is contingent on obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals. The primary objective of this new connection is to establish the first direct air link between North Africa and the markets of Singapore and Australia. Egypt has been identified as the largest unserved African market for both Singapore and Australia based on point-to-point traffic data from 2025.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this new service represents a significant development. It will introduce a direct air cargo option for shipments between North Africa, Southeast Asia, and Australia, potentially reducing transit times and offering new routing possibilities. Increased capacity on this lane could also lead to more competitive rates, particularly for time-sensitive cargo. Forwarders should monitor the regulatory approval process and EGYPTAIR's specific cargo offerings as the launch date approaches to integrate this new route into their logistics strategies.
