bound4blue has obtained a Design Assessment from Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore for its Model 3-24 eSAIL. This particular suction sail system was developed to maximize the use of wind power on larger maritime vessels. The certification was officially presented during the SMM event held in Hamburg last week.
To date, bound4blue has received orders for more than 50 of its eSAIL units, with 13 vessels already having completed installations. The Model 3 series of sails ranges in height from 24 to 36 meters. The Model 3-24 specifically saw its first commercial deployment earlier this year on the newbuild vessel MV Baltazar, operated by Klaveness Combination Carriers. These sails incorporate an expanded surface area and optimized aerodynamic features.
