Airbus's Head of Freighter Marketing, Crawford Hamilton, has announced that 14 customers have already committed to acquiring the new A350F freighter. This confirmation follows the aircraft's successful first test flight, which took place at Toulouse airport. Hamilton emphasized that the development of a freighter version was an integral part of the original A350 program concept.
For freight forwarders and air cargo operations managers, the introduction of the A350F signifies a potential increase in long-haul air cargo capacity in the coming years. As more of these aircraft enter service, it could help stabilize or even reduce airfreight rates on key trade lanes, particularly for general cargo and e-commerce volumes. Forwarders should monitor the delivery schedules to anticipate capacity shifts and potential new routing options from carriers adopting this new freighter model.
