A truck driver has been issued a €500 fine by the Oost-Brabant court for creating a dangerous road situation. The incident, which took place in Veghel in May 2025, involved the driver of a truck combination making a right turn without granting right-of-way to a cyclist. The cyclist collided with the truck, was dragged, and suffered several bone fractures.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this incident underscores the critical need for continuous driver training and adherence to road safety regulations, especially in urban areas with vulnerable road users. Such incidents can lead to legal penalties, increased insurance premiums, and reputational damage for logistics companies. Ensuring drivers are aware of local traffic laws and prioritize safety can mitigate these risks and prevent serious accidents.
