South African chemicals and energy conglomerate Sasol has appointed Envision Energy, a Chinese green technology firm, to undertake a comprehensive design study for a green hydrogen production system at its Sasolburg operations. This collaboration was highlighted during a visit by South Africa's Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, to Envision's Chifeng Hydrogen Net Zero Industrial Park in Inner Mongolia, coinciding with the South Africa-China Energy Investment Conference.
The design study will evaluate the feasibility and integration of various components, including renewable energy generation, energy storage solutions, and advanced electrolyser technologies. The primary goal is to establish a robust framework for the sustainable production of green hydrogen at the Sasolburg site.
