Royal Air Maroc Cargo inaugurated a new direct air freight service on June 7, 2026, linking Casablanca (CMN) with Los Angeles (LAX). This new route operates three times per week using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, providing substantial belly cargo capacity.
This service marks a significant development as Royal Air Maroc Cargo becomes the sole African carrier to offer a direct connection between the African continent and the U.S. West Coast. The airline also highlights the potential for this route to form part of a round-the-world air cargo network, connecting Los Angeles with Beijing.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this new service introduces a direct and potentially faster option for air cargo moving between North Africa and the U.S. West Coast, bypassing traditional European or East Coast transshipment points. The increased belly capacity on these passenger flights could offer more flexibility and competitive rates for general cargo, e-commerce, and time-sensitive shipments. The strategic link to Beijing also suggests new multimodal opportunities for trans-Pacific cargo originating from or destined for Africa.
