Hurkens Transport BV, operating from Rotterdam-Botlek, has completed the acquisition of Van der Bas Transport BV, located in Reeuwijk. This strategic move will integrate over 30 employees and their transport assets into Hurkens' existing operations. Following the merger of both companies' fleets, Hurkens Transport will command a combined total of approximately 85 prime movers and around 130 trailers.
This acquisition represents a consolidation within the Dutch road transport sector, bringing together two experienced entities. The increased fleet size and expanded workforce will likely enhance Hurkens Transport's service capabilities and market reach within the Netherlands.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this acquisition signifies a stronger, larger player in the Dutch road transport market. The increased fleet size could potentially offer more capacity and flexibility for inland transport within the Netherlands, particularly for shipments originating from or destined for the Rotterdam area. It may lead to more competitive service offerings or improved reliability for certain routes as the combined entity leverages its larger scale.
