Brazil's state-owned energy company, Petrobras, has announced the commencement of barge bunkering services at the Port of Suape. This new offering allows vessels to receive Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) and Low Sulphur Marine Gas Oil (LSMGO) directly via barge while berthed. Previously, Petrobras's fuel supply at Suape was limited to ex-pipe deliveries.
This development enhances the bunkering options available at the port, providing increased operational flexibility for shipping lines. For freight forwarders and vessel operators, the availability of both barge and ex-pipe bunkering methods at Suape could streamline logistics and potentially reduce turnaround times for vessels requiring fuel, especially those with tight schedules or specific berthing requirements. It also offers more choices for fuel procurement, which could lead to competitive pricing and improved service efficiency.
The introduction of barge bunkering is expected to improve the overall efficiency and attractiveness of the Port of Suape as a bunkering hub in Brazil.
