OPL Services Pte. Ltd. (OPL), based in Singapore, has entered into a bareboat charter agreement with marinEV, the marine electrification division of Yinson GreenTech. The contract is for marinEV's electric cargo vessel, Hydromover 2.0. This vessel is slated to operate from Singapore’s inaugural decarbonization hub, which is specifically designed for electric supply vessels and managed by Toll Group.
The charter agreement also incorporates marinEV’s Marine Digital Platform (MDP). This platform is designed to offer crucial operational insights, facilitating performance monitoring, efficient fleet management, and overall operational optimization for the vessel.
This collaboration extends a long-standing relationship between OPL and marinEV. OPL was an early industry partner in the development of marinEV's electric harbor craft solutions, having previously signed a Letter of Intent to support these initiatives. For freight forwarders, this development signifies a growing trend towards sustainable shipping solutions in key maritime hubs like Singapore. While this specific vessel is for cargo within the port, it indicates an increasing focus on electric propulsion in the maritime sector, which could eventually influence broader supply chain sustainability targets and potentially lead to new, greener options for port logistics and short-sea shipping.
