Maritime software developer NAPA has introduced NAPA Checklist, a new product aimed at digitalizing onboard operational workflows for vessels. This system moves away from static paper and PDF checklists, providing a dynamic digital platform for crew procedures. The solution was developed in collaboration with HX Expeditions, which is currently deploying NAPA Checklist across its fleet of expedition cruise ships.
NAPA states that three additional operators are actively utilizing the product. One operator has been using it for over a year, while another has nearly completed its fleet-wide rollout. The NAPA Checklist guides crew members through each procedure in the correct sequence, ensuring adherence to protocols.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this development signifies a move towards greater standardization and efficiency in maritime operations. Digital checklists can reduce human error, improve compliance with safety and operational standards, and provide better data for performance analysis. While primarily impacting vessel operations directly, enhanced onboard efficiency can indirectly contribute to improved schedule reliability and reduced delays, which are beneficial for the entire supply chain.
