Klaveness Combination Carriers (KCC) has announced the delivery of the MV Baltazar, a significant addition to its fleet as the first vessel to incorporate a wind-assisted propulsion system (WAPS). Constructed at China's New Yangzi Shipyard, the MV Baltazar is outfitted with two bound4blue eSAIL suction sails, designed to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
This delivery marks the completion of KCC's third-generation CABU III (caustic bulk) vessel series, with the MV Baltazar joining its sister ships, MV Balder and MV Bastion. The entire series integrates various energy-saving technologies, including an air lubrication system and a shaft generator, in addition to the new WAPS on the Baltazar.
