Everllence has finalized an agreement to equip four new Rampage 6000-DE offshore terminal tugs with a total of 16 of its 175D gensets. These tugs, designed by Robert Allen, are currently under construction at a Turkish shipyard. Upon completion, the vessels will be operated by Smit Lamnalco, providing essential support for offshore activities in Guyana.
This development signifies continued investment in the offshore support sector, particularly in regions with growing energy industries. For freight forwarders and logistics professionals, this news indicates an expansion of specialized marine support infrastructure in Guyana, which could facilitate larger project cargo movements and offshore energy developments. While not directly impacting container rates or capacity, it points to increased operational capabilities for complex offshore logistics in the region.
The deployment of these new tugs will enhance Smit Lamnalco's fleet capabilities, enabling more efficient and robust support for offshore projects in Guyana's burgeoning oil and gas sector.
