A recent court decision has enabled the joint venture (JV) between Delta Air Lines and Aeromexico to continue operating. This ruling overturns a previous order from the US Department of Transportation (DOT) that sought to dissolve the partnership. The DOT's directive, issued in September of the previous year, was a consequence of an ongoing disagreement between the US and Mexico concerning the 2015 U.S.–Mexico Air Transport Agreement.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, the continuation of this JV means stability in air cargo capacity and routing options between the US and Mexico that these carriers jointly provide. Had the JV been dissolved, it could have led to potential disruptions in cargo space, altered flight schedules, and possibly rate adjustments on these specific lanes. The court's decision avoids such immediate uncertainty, allowing existing booking and operational plans to remain largely unaffected.
