On Tuesday, June 30, three separate road transport companies in the Netherlands were declared bankrupt by various courts. The affected firms are Colin Transport B.V. (also known as Colin Logistics) based in Kerkrade, BeJo Transport B.V. from Hulshorst, and M. van de Vooren Transport located in Elst. The immediate causes leading to these bankruptcies have not yet been publicly revealed.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this trend of insolvencies among smaller carriers in the Netherlands signals potential capacity reductions and increased pressure on remaining operators. While the direct impact on rates is not immediately clear, a shrinking pool of available hauliers could lead to tighter capacity and potentially higher costs for inland transport services in the region. Forwarders should monitor the market closely for further consolidation or service disruptions, and consider diversifying their network of road transport partners to mitigate risks associated with carrier failures.
