Sanmar Shipyards recently completed the delivery of a new Bogaçay Class tugboat to SAAM Towage. The vessel, now named SAAM HUNABKU, is based on the RAmparts 2400SX-MKIl design. This latest addition brings the total number of Sanmar-constructed vessels within SAAM Towage's operational fleet to sixteen.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, the expansion of tugboat fleets like SAAM Towage's indicates continued investment in port support infrastructure. While not directly impacting linehaul rates or capacity, a robust and modern tug fleet contributes to efficient port operations, reducing potential delays for vessels entering and exiting terminals. This can indirectly improve schedule reliability and turnaround times for container ships and other cargo vessels, which is beneficial for supply chain planning.
