Ocean Network Express (ONE) has announced the introduction of its new Mediterranean Africa Express Service (MAX), a dedicated weekly container shipping route. The service rotation will include stops at Algeciras, Tangier, Dakar, Tema, Lekki, and Abidjan, before returning to Algeciras. Operations are scheduled to commence on July 7.
This new offering is designed to provide ONE's customers with improved access to international markets by leveraging the carrier's established Mediterranean hub network. The MAX service will facilitate onward connections to ONE's broader global shipping routes, encompassing services to North and South America, Northern Europe, the wider Mediterranean region, and Asia.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this new service signifies an increase in direct capacity and frequency for the West Africa trade lane from the Mediterranean. It offers more reliable scheduling options for cargo moving between these regions and provides enhanced connectivity to other major global trade lanes through ONE's hub in Algeciras. This could lead to more competitive transit times and potentially more stable rates for shippers on these specific routes, while also offering alternative routing possibilities for cargo originating from or destined for West Africa.
