Chapman Freeborn, a global air charter and leasing specialist, has supported Air Zimbabwe by providing an Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance (ACMI) capacity solution. This arrangement facilitates the planned resumption of direct scheduled passenger services connecting Harare, Zimbabwe, with London Gatwick in the United Kingdom. The route is anticipated to restart by the end of July.
This re-established direct connection is significant as it will provide dedicated belly cargo capacity. For freight forwarders and shippers, this means improved access for time-sensitive exports, particularly perishables, from Zimbabwe to the UK market. The direct route is expected to enhance efficiency and reduce transit times for these valuable goods, potentially impacting air freight rates and capacity for this specific trade lane. The availability of consistent, direct air cargo space is a critical factor for agricultural exporters in Zimbabwe.
