Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) and DSV have introduced a new weekly air cargo service connecting Luxembourg to Rockford. This new route signifies an expansion of their collaborative global freight network, aiming to improve connectivity across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
This latest service follows the successful implementation of DSV's Shanghai Pudong–Rockford route, which commenced in November 2025 as part of its Shanghai Star Air Freight Charter program. The continuous growth in air cargo operations at RFD, particularly with key logistics partners like DSV, underscores the airport's increasing role as a significant hub for international air freight.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this new service provides an additional direct air cargo option for shipments between Europe and the US Midwest, potentially offering improved transit times and capacity. The expanded network also offers greater flexibility for multimodal strategies, linking European origins with onward distribution in the Americas. This could lead to more competitive rates and reliable scheduling for airfreight movements on these lanes.
