LATAM Cargo has launched a new direct weekly freighter service utilizing a Boeing 767 aircraft, connecting Frankfurt, Germany, with Antofagasta, Chile. This service offers 25 tonnes of cargo capacity per flight, primarily aimed at supporting the robust mining industry in northern Chile. The direct route is designed to streamline the transportation of critical machinery parts and components, eliminating the need for intermediate connections through Santiago.
This new offering is significant for freight forwarders and shippers involved in the mining supply chain. By providing a direct link, the service is expected to reduce transit times and potential handling risks associated with transshipment, which can be crucial for time-sensitive or high-value mining equipment. It offers a more efficient logistics solution for importing essential goods into a key industrial region, potentially improving supply chain reliability and reducing overall operational costs for mining companies.
The service is expected to enhance connectivity for the Chilean mining sector, facilitating smoother and faster access to European suppliers.
