Hungary's Ministry of Transport and Public Investments has decided to temporarily ease the weekend driving prohibition for heavy goods vehicles exceeding 7.5 tons. This decision comes in response to an extreme heat alert issued nationwide, which could otherwise impede logistics and supply chain movements. The usual weekend restrictions, typically in effect for trucks of this size, will be partially suspended to allow for continued transport during the high temperatures.
For freight forwarders and operations managers, this temporary lifting of the ban means that road freight movements through Hungary will face fewer restrictions this weekend. This could help maintain delivery schedules and prevent delays that might arise from trucks being idled during periods of extreme heat, potentially impacting transit times and operational costs. It offers a brief window of improved capacity and flexibility for cross-border road transport within the region.
